Major Moscow's Strikes Eliminate Electricity Throughout Ukraine's Capital

The country's energy systems have come under increased attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have led to power cuts in multiple districts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Several individuals were hurt while residents in eastern districts were left without electricity and encountered interruptions to drinking water, according to local authorities.

At the same time, a minor was killed in a different assault in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country's south-east, based on information from area administrators.

Moscow has increased strikes on power infrastructure over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has demanded "concrete actions" from allies to exert influence on Russia.

"The necessity is not superficial actions but strong steps - from the United States, Europe and the Group of Seven - in delivering protection systems and applying sanctions," he wrote in a online statement.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and more than 30 rockets attacked Ukraine's energy infrastructure, characterizing such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and maintenance teams were striving to repair systems.

A barrage of missiles struck electrical systems and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people hurt in the strikes on the city have been taken to hospital, as confirmed by local officials.

Local officials said the urban area came under significant strikes during nighttime hours. A minor was killed and several individuals were injured.

The strikes follow periods of air raids in the region, parts of which are currently controlled by invading troops.

The whole nation is under warning for advanced weapon attacks, which are tougher to detect.

Government officials told the media that Russia was purposely seeking to destroy the national power system, with assaults already disrupting energy systems.

He said energy workers and government agencies were preparing for more assaults.
